Anoying things about different races |
Lead | ||

Playing this game on KOTC I'm Greys V Mechs. Was doing pretty well until my Warp miss fired killing my 1 and only phyker plus bringing my whole sentry squad down to red. I had done plenty of test turns too and that never happened

Yeh I hate it when that happens. Or when you are up against commander v commander 50/50 chance and you die

Mis-firing warps and bad bouncing nades don't happen if you take care over the plotting and give yourself a margin for error.
If you do try to thread a nade through the eye of a needle then assume that it's not going to make it (even if it works in test orders 5 times in a row) and move your troops accordingly... |

I had my men in a metal bunker is was a tight space. My warper only warped badly once. I should of taken more care really. I think I was a bit put off cos I was having a few domestic problems in the house

All these "features" of the different factions can be dealt with, as HB points out.
Like, if your Commander and an enemy Commander are standing there duking it out in an empty field... why?!? Real-world armies use cover, and tactical manoeuvres, exactly BECAUSE if you stand in the open and just shoot your enemy, you only have a 50/50 chance of winning! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Commander V Commander | #9
|
Well yes! it's just sometimes happens to be a situation where both units have no cover from where they are standing. Like I had a sitution where my Commander and the opponent shot at each other. My Commander wasn't in a good position as it was sandwiched between 2 walls facing the enemy com. The enemy com however didn't do any bobbing in and out but still managed to kill my com. It just seemed like a 50/50 situation. Next time I will be more careful where I place my Coms.

Yeah -- exactly.
Of course, sometimes one is just plain unlucky... but the better a player one becomes, the luckier one gets! Weird eh? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Commander V Commander | #13

Regarding Commander faces-offs.
If you're losing then you DO want to try and create a situation where you have a Commander face off as this INCREASES your overall chances of winning. If you're winning then you DON'T want to try and create a situation where you have a Commander face off as this DECREASES your overall chances of winning. |

Quote: If you were blocked by walls on both sides, then you're probably right, but if you're both standing in the open, then it's possible just to run away moving sideways to the enemy commie. Unless it's very close range. Marines are highly unlikely to hit anything smaller and quicker than a queen or a tank that is moving laterally to them. To illustrate this, here's some marine rugby against X (=Axemandavva, who shortly afterwards kicked my butt in a league game) lsn.kicks-ass.org/lga/download/3599 I go down in points, but manage to get close to a line of snipers on a completely open map. One useful trick in commie or sniper duels, is to have another unit closer to draw attention to him, for instance a grunt corner dancing, while sniper/commy gets free shots to the enemy. |

Re: Commander V Commander | #17

Yes ahmmm! Sorry I should of made it more clear in the first place, The map was Wild West and as you may know it's quite easy to get sandwiched between walls to take cover. Simply because there is so much open space to be sniped. I was using the buildings to make my advance to make an attack and avoid camping.
In open space yes you can move to the side but in this situation I couldn't as the space between walls was 1 square. |

Marines V Marines Wild West definatly brings out my weakness. Too much long distance Sniping for my liking. I prefere sneaky close combat. Seem to fare better with Greys on Wild West than Marines.
