Posts: 260 20-Nov-07 13:02	Here's a shot at what we should decide in what order: 1. Pick a "general" -- not me! I nominate Thall, since he's the highest in the league, if he doesn't mind [edit: or goblin!]. The General will place the HQs and decide on a strategy. 2. Pick a race. 3. Decide who will deploy what units. 4. Name the units. 5. The General tells us roughly what our objectives are. 6. We deploy! Thoughts on race: Marines would give us more units each to control, and more self-contained. E.g., 2 snipers/grunt/medic or 2 commanders or 2 naders and 2 grunts, etc. Better to integrate them among us or disperse them? I.e., A Nader squad, a Grunt squad, etc---might be harder to coordinate but would certainly be fun! MTs tend to be effective on this map, in my (limited) experience. I have to go look at a game I have in progress against John Johnston on this map in which he has 2 MTs and maybe--I don't remember--2 AIs, on the green side. An observation: there can't be four 4-pt units, because any one of us has only 6 pts to work with, so a max of one 4-pt unit each. LSN Name: Erland Time: GMT -4

If we go Mechs we could deploy a Scanner up front and pretty much know after the first movement turn where their HQ's are located. Of course it wouldn't last long and wouldn't be much fun to control. Marines would work well too as a Sniper on the right side of the map would be able to recon that side of the map. After reading Erland's post I'm leaning towards Marines since we'd have more units to control and the limitation of only 3 4-pt units. LSN Name: thall

Goblin, why don't you just take charge and tell Fuzzy that you'll deploy the HQs, and tell me and thall what you want us to do. If we have any objections, we'll let you know (or we'll just ignore you and deploy what we want--lol). I think you should also send Fuzzy all of our email addresses so he can send us each the file for the deployment turn. After we deploy we can just let each other know what unit names are ours. And yes we are in different time zones as I'm in the U.S. and I believe The Goblin is in the U.K. Sorry about taking so long to respond but I was away yesterday for Thanksgiving. We could try to go real heavy and each deploy 2 Commanders. It would be fun but a disaster if they rush our HQ's with a Hunter squad. For a more balanced force, I'd suggest 1 Sniper, 3 Commanders, 1 Medic, 2 Grenadiers, and 2 Grunts. I'd place one or both of the Grenadiers (with a Grunt nearby) in the room on the left by the window to grenade their building. I imagine no one will be venturing into the other room the first few turns as that is the room that tends to get hit by missiles right off. LSN Name: thall

Posts: 1358 24-Nov-07 16:47 Goo-blin	hahaha, everyone seems to think i'm in britain for some reason i'm on the east coast USA anyway, i'd lean toward the balanced deployment just because it would be more effective (probably) if they deploy hunter/xt heavy, or just generally more effective against marine since we could use the grenades to deny movement in certain areas. i think thall already sent our e-mail addresses out to fuzzy, so we'll just have to let him know who's gonna deploy the HQ. hmmm, for unit split, we have a few options. we can have each player have a more or less balanced set of forces: 1 commander, 1 nader/sniper, and 1 grunt/medic (the player with the sniper would control the medic, since the sniper doesn't need the grunt as support) or we could go with more specialized forces so each player controls some piece of the squad, the three groups: 2 commanders, 2 naders 2 grunts, 1 commander 1 sniper 1 medic. first player has control of a heavy medium range group, second player has the explosives, third has the long range squad, and the healing. both are interesting and could be effective.
