I was introduced to it by Gavgargan (he still plays but I've not seen him on the forums for a while)
In fact come to think of it it was at a Fireworks party that he mentioned it. So I guess this weekend is my LSN Birthday!

'appy birfday.
I'd recently downloaded caprice32 (which is an emulator for the Amstrad CPC range of computers... I had a 6128, once upon a time. Actually, I suspect I still have it somewhere - clunky monitor et al) I was looking for the original LS, as I'd never actually got to play it, and stumbled across an LSN site. Although I don't remember which one. I got my three free games against Joergenson... and got a sound drubbing in one of them. Nothing much has changed there, then! |

there's a good magazine here in Ukraine, that comes up with a disc that contains latest freeware soft, games, patches etc.
There was a trial version of LSN (v3-02) once. the thing is i don't subscribe this magazine, but my friend does and i take these CD's from him time after time. This is how it got installed. But more improtant was that in that time i was interested in turn-based games, where the players would make moves simultaneosly, not one after another, by "programming" the orders during "combo-seconds" that they have. Actually i still don't know about and haven't played any other games with this concept but LSN. It fitted perfectly. |

I used to love to play Laser Squad on C64 against friends in hotseat mode. The balance was really bad but we added extra rules to make it fair. Years later I was thinking that it must be a sequel for such a great game so I googled it, that's how I found LSN.
Actually LSN is not really like Laser Squad in concept, but neverthless, a great game. |

I found LSN through Penny Arcade, the webcomic. They made a squid pun off of it but included a link I followed...
Months of lurking led to me free subbing and getting Diceman as an FI. I subbed before we completed the three games and the rest is history... ... well, as historical as these things get. I'm still amazed that I'm now considered one of the older players... Inside I still feel like a n00b. |

That's how I found it too. Here's the cartoon!
www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2003/08/06 Actually, that could just be a good idea for a new race... BTW My FI was Opu Mawashi. Anyone know where he went? Is he still around under a different name? ![]() ![]() |

I read about it in PCGamer, and played the demo. But at the time I didn't have reliable internet access.
Then, for some reason I thought about signing up when I got to university about 18 months later. It was possibly something to do with upcoming exams and mucho procrastination... |

Anyone fancy sending an "uncensored" review to PCG to give LSN some extra publicity? I notice LSN is still featured in the Big Game Hunt.

A short review in the Guardian TV guide when the retail version came out. I had played the original on the spectrum and amiga but had never thought to search for it.

PC Zone cover disc
I admit I was unsure because I'd never played a Play to Play game beore (or since) and was worried about what I was letting myself in for but I generally trust PC Zone's recommendations. Best 20 quid I ever spent on a computer game and here I am still playing (3 years and another 40 quid later). Playername: Cas ![]() |
