Posts: 154 11-Jan-06 17:39	Tags : None DONT USE THESE SEE BELOW Just to complete the set of colour mods I found these on the Gaming Lounge - they look several years old and I have no idea who made them Black marine mod - losses a bit too much detail on my desktop machine with a CRT but looks good on a flatscreen - but the idea is a nice one www.gaminglounge.net/file...marine.zip Silver Mech mod - looks great! www.gaminglounge.net/file...achina.zip As far as I can tell use them in a similar way to the grey and spawn mods but please back up your current art files first!

Posts: 5436 11-Jan-06 20:23 French? Moi?	I found the marine mod rather strange, and decided not to touch it. The Mech mod, in the other hand, looks very cool! I just happened to bump into some flaw in your mod: The pictures of yours happens to be PNGs, altough the coloured images are JPGs. The "Shadows" are PNGs, so therefor your mod overwrites them. This makes the mechs - not to get the silver overlay - but turn into strange mis-sized polygon freaks. Also the same thing happens in the effects that you touched, and I suspect that the same thing is wrong with the marines also. Ps. The install thingy doesn't run properly. Actually it doesn't even need to, as long as you just make the image types right, so they can be copied over the originals (after safety copied, of course). Posts: 154 11-Jan-06 22:01	Mmm - that'll teach me to post before I test it . I was so excited I just assumed they'd be OK. Sorry - hope everyone who tried it before you posted did as I said and backed things up. I reckon it must be cus it's from from way back - an earlier version of LSN when there were fewer stills for each unit. It does work for the marine HQ - and it doesn't look bad. Give me a spare hour on photoshop and I'm sure I can sort it out and call it my own! Then I'll really have to take any stick for foul-ups!

Posts: 154 12-Jan-06 00:30	OK - I reckon I have it - some nice silver mechs, and some SAS type marines (with purple pants!). Now I just need a host for these two zip folders. Any offers - Brokk? - you have the spawn and grey mods - JC? - you seem keen - I'd like some constructive criticism - let me know what you think. All I need is an email address to send these to. I'll also send a couple of jpegs with the resulting home and away colours. (mechs look purplish in their away strip - marines look bloodied!) I think these silver mechs look great, the marines less so. The trouble with creating anything black is that the detail is lost - theres no contrast. This tends to happen with the black spawn mod. You tend to get away with it though as the shapes of spawn are so distinctive. I think any black marine mod (including my attempt) will have limited appeal as they are all humanoid. A good black mod for marines would probably involve recolouring the whole lot - and I don't have that much time!

My email address is my user name here, followed by the small snail character, followed by "tiscaliXcoXuk" with the "X" characters changed to dots. How intelligent are web crawlers these days?
