i don't think this is a true exploit because it can be done in hotseating and a very experienced player just knows how the grende will fly. However it should be implemented in a way that everyone could easily use it. It's like a vision tool, for which there is no button, so people meet it either reading the whole manual or via forums

just noticed that "gobbling orders" does gobble their displaying but doesn't remove them. just click view results and then back onto plotting and you'll see your orders safe

...or just press O for Orders.
Also, if you start the "gobbling" stage with no orders set, you can watch as the unit AI acquires targets and plots its own Direct Fire orders at the nearest enemy unit. It's fun EDIT: and pursue orders for spawn on FAW as well, of course |

Quote:and also notice the unreliableness of "gobbling" stage as they continue to shoot through autoasigned red line even when that unit is dead (although the test orders are fro this ok) edit: maybe should post about "gobbling plotting tool" in the Laser Squad Nemesis General Discussion, so more people willl know about it (not all read this section)? |

Hey awesome to see my old work picking away at the configs lived on beyond my involvement. Honestly I didn't think anybody really noticed except mebbe Qwentle... ;p
I think I'll try this out, unfortunately I dunno if it'll work. I have the retail LSN installed and I'm playing the single player campains for now. I can't afford to subscribe just now so I can't patch it. ;-( I'm SORELY missing some of those hotkeys, though... heh Having to actually click on the ui for so many things... ick... -mannon

Anyone know if Tharg's Interface Config doesn't play nice with Vista? I can't seem to get it to work now. :-(

Very strange, I don't know why that could be. Are you definately saving it with a .cfg extention? I know that some windows versions it can hide the
extention so that it might be named "MyFile.cfg.txt" even though you only see "MyFile.cfg".

Good suggestion (always start the troubleshooting at the beginning), but it is definitely Interface.cfg and not
Interface.cfg.txt. Would the game still work if it were called something else anyway? Not sure, but I did confirm the
extension was listed properly. When I checked the properties there was something asking whether it was from a secure source, and I had to unblock the file, but
that doesn't seem to have fixed it either. Must be something with Vista that caused that.
I thought it might be something to do with the new files so I copied the content into the old Interface.cfg (after making a backup of the backup) and saved that to the Interface folder but that didn't work either. I also tried to access the Web interface via IE instead of Firefox in case it was a browser-based issue, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I was thinking the next step might be to restore the original Interface.cfg and then modify it bit by bit to see if I can get some of the features to work, unless you have any other suggestions? Thanks! |

Sorry, I can't think of anything else really. Apart from, as a long shot, the line endings. I suppose it's possible that it has linux line endings
instead of windows line endings. Something like that - or maybe the encoding is wrong. Iunno.
Another idea actually - are you sure that you don't have 2 LSN installations and you're putting it on the wrong one? Other than that lot I would go with your step-by-step approach. |

The latest interface worked before I upgraded to Vista, so I don't think the Linux endings makes sense unless they worked fine on XP but not for Vista for
some reason. But I know next to nothing about Linux so I couldn't say really. Unless you are saying they're Linux line endings and maybe Vista
doesn't like them, in which case you could absolutely be right. But I don't know. The code looks pretty similar to the original format-wise.
There aren't 2 LSN installations, but good suggestion. I'll try the line-by-line approach and post how it works. |

Never did get around to the line-by-line approach, but I saw a link to Robmonster's interface edit and tried downloading that, and it is working fine. Not sure how they are different but
just being able to name my games to help me prioritize is good enough for me.
