You two are pretty much right. Units are in tiles.

Box is centered at x=0, y=0, z=0.5, with xwidth, ywidth = 0.4, height = 0.9. This means that the bounding box for a marine goes from x=[-0.2, 0.2], y=[-0.2, 0.2], z=[0.05, 0.95]. I don't think you can put a grenade a marine though, since I think floors come up to z=0.1.

Note that this box shape applies no matter which way the unit is facing. The box is always aligned to the tile grid, which means that diagonal shots have a better chance of hitting (the diagonal cross-section is wider).

Sphere centered at x=0, y=0, z=0.3, radius = 0.7. So the sphere is embedded into the ground a bit.

Not that short. 0.95 tiles is 1.9m, which I think is above average. It's definitely a few cm taller than me.
