1. Goal of the game
The goal is to claim the throne of the Emperor. Either alone, or as a part of an alliance.
You can think of it like this: the chieftains are the local warriors trying to make an uprising. The warlords might not have the loyalty of the chieftains in the region which they control, but theyre still the masters of that region. The princes above that, might be in control of several warlord regions, and might not control any of the chieftains at all. The kings on the other hand might have one or two princes in their pockets. Then we have the emperor which is above all.
2. The Battlefield
The battlefield has 5 layers:
o        Chieftain layer: which is the basic region.
o        Warlord layer: which contains 2 chieftain regions.
o        Prince layer: which contains 2 warlord regions.
o        King layer: which contain 2 prince regions.
o        Emperor layer: which contains 4 king layers.
3.1 Taking control of regions
You take control of a region by attacking it and winning the battle against the player who currently owns the region. You may only attack from regions within the same layer. When you take control of a region above chieftain level, you will at the same time take control of one of the regions in the underlying layer (picked in a clockwise direction starting at the upper right corner) owned by the player you defeated.
Special: A region that is defended by you successfully will count toward your own personal conquests. This has importance in alliances, where you may end up defending regions originally conquered by another alliance member.
Special: ownerless regions are a bit special to take control of. Take this example: players A and B each own a chieftain region underlying a warlord region #1 neither of them would qualify to become a warlord since they need to own both chieftain regions, thus the warlord region is ownerless.. Player C owns the warlord region #2 next to warlord region #1. Player C could think all is well, Ill just grab that ownerless warlord region without having to fight! But, then hes wrong because that would mean he would own none of the underlying chieftain regions and thus immediately lose the warlord region again. So, what he needs to do is attack from the chieftain layer, and grab one of the chieftain regions. If he does so, he will become the owner of the warlord region as well. This is special because normally you need to control both of the underlying regions, but since player C was already a warlord, this is not necessary.
3.2 Losing regions
You lose a region if a player attacks from a region of the same layer it and wins.
You also lose a region if you lose all of the regions in the underlying layer.
3.3 Promotion between layers
You will become promoted if you take control of all the regions underlying a superior region. You will then own the superior region.
o        For example, taking control of the 2 chieftain regions in the upper left corner will make you a warlord in control of the upper left warlord region. The warlord then proceeds to take control of the 2 warlord regions in the left corner, and he becomes a prince in control of the upper left prince region.
3.4 Demotion between layers
You will be demoted if you no longer control any region of the appropriate type. For example, if you control no king-regions you will not be a king. You will instead assume the rank appropriate to the higest layer of which you control a region.
3.5 Becoming eliminated
You become eliminated when you no longer control any regions at all.
3.6 Becoming Emperor
You become Emperor when you control all of the king regions. After an Emperor is crowned, his reign will continue until he is dethroned. His or her fame will be dependant on the number of days in power.
Alliances are simple. They are made out of a maximal number of 4 players. Those players share regions, the advantage being that the individual player needs to play fewer games.
4.1. Forming an alliance
Anyone can form an alliance. Its an agreement between players.
4.2. Leaving an alliance
A player leaving an alliance will retain the regions which he personally have conquered.
4.3. Alliance Emperors
You may conquer the Emperor throne as an alliance. All members of the alliance will share the title. It is, of course, more prestigeous to conquer the throne with fewer members.
