My first effort is designed for use in the Hatchlings competition (which is an all Spawn event) but I would really appreciate feedback as if it were a "normal" map. Thanks, people. Posts: 2382 26-May-07 20:19	Nothing imbalanced about it. A bit too open that's all. For Spawn vs Spawn... Not sure how to play that setup in an intelligent way. But some more buildings could be good so that there's no dead lock. I'm guessing the main strat would be to snatch one another's corpses. So, a lot of terrain that Queens can eat and a lot of funky places to hide goo spitters would be nice. GL HF.

Posts: 1478 27-May-07 12:30	I think the hatcheries are too protected. It would make for a more interesting game to have them partially in the open and partially in sight of one another. That way you could start a bit of trouble while still eating and laying. Each person would have to eat and lay under speculative spiker fire and watch out for cheeky spitters trying to spoil your eggs with green sauce. As is the only sane tactic is to wait until you've laid your entire load then mob-up and go outside to settle things. Which will take three turns and won't be all that different from a normal game anyway. LSN: scallywag

Posts: 5401 29-May-07 00:34 Tori Fan	I've made a couple of changes... click me! changes include: - added two buildings to make things a little less open - moved the door in the blue deployment zone to make improve blue's options in the early turns - added a few crates and barrels here and there whaddayathink? (I'm working more towards a Balanced map than a competition-only map, I think... for the Hatchlings competition, the deployment zones feel pretty close already from test games. But never mind that for now!) PS: harsh criticism of the floor tiles and destroyed wall usage is very welcome... I've not made a map before and I'm sure I've stuffed something up somewhere.

Posts: 1976 29-May-07 14:41 LSN's voice of reason	The map looks good but the deployment is very restricted on both sides - in terms of general play my first thought tends to be ... so where`s my opponent going to put his HQ? I don`t have to think very hard with this map! The games might be decided too quickly when MT`s are involved.

However there's nothing to say that this can't still be the case, and players be told where they can and can't deploy. I will extend the deployment zones for both players. As for buildings in behind what is now Blue's deployment zone, yes - I think I should add something there. Thank you all for the feedback I'll have a tinker with things again soon, and most likely submit the map shortly after. -stx
