More on the Bounty Hunters. I DID NOT draw them with weapons used by the other races, and I think that they could be really cool. (pauses) I take it that Julian made all four of the races without suggestions? LSN-Ragman

I'd be interested to hear what you've worked up.
I love hearing people's ideas for new races, and in fact I think that 5 would be an ideal # of races to have. Among my favorite ideas are the "Tentacle Monster" and the "Cigar-Chewing Snowmen with Flamethrowers and Shotguns". Also a complete LSN mod that would be fantasy oriented. Don't let people put you off with their "This is a very old topic blah blah blah" and "Let's face it yadda yadda yadda" crap. Of course it's been brought up many times, and of course we aren't likely to get a new race. Hello, captains of the obvious. I mean, you may be new but you aren't stupid, and you're into LSN enough to put ideas to paper and dream up something different. I've heard lots of race ideas of the years and there have been a number that I've found intriguing. And there have been a number that I thought weren't interesting. Let's hear yours. ![]() ![]() |

I like the ideas about what being hit by certain units would do to the opposing player's guys. Good work.
It's be interesting to have intricately plotted a turn, only to have it messed up when the commie who was supposed to be breaking the wall gets stunned, so the grenade bounces back and causes havoc. |

For example, the stun soldier who add 1 sec of hold command on hit could completely obliterate one unit orders for a whole turn, possibly exposing him in a way which would make him prone to die due to misplotting. Imagine that you planned a unit movement for 20 minutes for that soldier alone, and only because he been hit once your whole plan fail and you lose (or lose the unit anyways)... Or, having several such units in front of you, being hit several times in the same turn would render your own unit completely useless and defenseless since being hit would equal to losing aim time... After all this been said, would you really want to play a game in which you can't be certain that what you do can actually help you win a battle or you cannot be certain that it really actually matter? The Sniper who slowsthe ennemy units down by 1/3 unfortunatly fall under the same category. Tough the way you are describing the unit, being hit 3 times if it was cumulative would not equal 0% mobility but rather around 33% mobility since you don't lose a third of your mobility but rather lose another 1/3 of mobility on each hit, it could very easily screw up whole units for the rest of the whole battle. Some units are inhenrently slow, I would not want to imagine the result of seeing a slowed AI or Scanner on battle... The speed of the units are already part of the well balanced system we have right now, slowing down would tear up that balance IMHO. Finnaly, the bike (unless I misunderstood something) really look like an early beta Saucer to me. Innacurate but real fast and deadly. |

I have to agree, on this scale of game, having unit's that affect your opponent's units ability to follow orders are significantly overpowered. (Hence why psychers got changed)
A cross between a drone and a scanner, me likes Here's an idea that springs to mind (with your mention of cameras on the ammo dump) A guy, let's say with similar stats to a medic, who can plant cameras. around the place. He has a number of cameras he can plant (much like the queen laying eggs) which get reloaded at the ammo dump instead of eating bodies, these cameras then are much like an egg with vision (ie, can't do anything else but sit there and get shot). Or something that works like a warp gun, but instead of doing damage, gives you a ball of vision in the area.... ok, I'll stop now Works based on mechanics we already see in game with the queen, so hopefully not too hard to implement. |

Nice, much more advanced that when you first talked to me about them. I see that you've already got the 'get away from my guys' comments.
FWIW, I note that you don't have an explosive unit in the group, leaving you without body removal in case they run into spawn. Maybe the stunner could be switched to an idea I had a while ago of an area of effect weapon that unlike all explosions now did the same damage in its area regardless of distance from the center. It would need to be a relatively low damage weapon to offset that but good enough to clear bodies. It would be LOS and could still be thought of as a 'stun field' in some way. Just a thought. |

no uniform area damage please!!!
it will be too low to compansate it's uniformness so it won't be able to clean some of the toughest corpses. and making it easier to players to harm opponent is also bad. "Nah, i won't even think about where will he pop out most certainly, there'll be equal damage everywhere" However area damaging unit is must-have in any race now that i finally read Ragman's descriptions... well. short words 3FP Sniper with extra effect 4FP scanner+drone with a fast bite 5FP very fast big vehicle with inaccurate fast gun 1FP stunner 1FP adjusted grunt 1FP ammo dump with vision from first look immediately seen that * stunner is a bad idea. especially that he is so cheap. * no area damage weapon. * no any replenish concept while marines can heal, mechs - repair, spawn recycle and greys restore energy. * no flyers (not that this is neccessary, but...) * expensive specialist units make you chosy on deployment. that's not bad, but has issues that where discussed in various grey concerning topics. |

exposions! i'm about exposions! when i talk about area damage units, for spawn i mean splatter. just look through reports on games. Good nading, Good missiling, well sneaked splatter are winning the game. People aren't as good with warpers as with those above, but good warping is also a common review. | ||||
