I've just checked and my subscription ran out 2.5 years ago, yet nosing round the forum, I see so many names that I remember very fondly. So how is everyone keeping? Seems from what I've read that LSN hasn't progressed much and that many of the old issues are still there from years ago, namely that LSN is on the verge of being abandonware. The only thing that appears to have grown is the size of Hero Boys sig, I think you're trying to compensate for something, eh HB?! Nostalgic, yes, very nostalgic. I don't think anything has changed for about 18 months now and the number of people playing is steadily dropping. Having said that, there's still a hard core who keep it going. And new maps are being added and also Fuzzy has cleverly managed to set up a 2 v 2 match although I don't know how sucessful that's been. I stopped playing LSN a while ago. It all got a bit much like hard work. I'm expecting the bug to bite sometime soon but so far, it hasn't. Obviously I'm still hanging around the forums a bit though although they too aren't as busy as they were. And on the subject of old timers, Kaleb popped back for a bit a few posts recently but he hasn't appeared much since...

I still have my F5 t-shirt, in fact I went for a run in it the other day, so there you go, I'm still a walking (well running) advert for LSN. Yeah I got an email from Kaleb a little while ago. DeadDog still plays though doesn't he? If you see Redeem, tell him to contact me through my blog please. I never really understood the Julian ambivalent attitude to LSN. There was plenty of scope for LSN to grow, a community that greatly desired it, plenty of direct offers of free programming input, ample media support (PC Gamer thought LSN was the bee's knees), and a sustainable business model in the form of an annual subscription. Yep LSN is still the same, but giving Codo a bit of credit they did admit they it wasn't in their best interest to move LSN anymore forward then it is now. I've got a feeling Julian's on a gaming project apart from the old email he sent me about changing my password, he's been quiet (and still not change my password). As you remember, Spacedog did ask, but 'understandably' Codo weren't interested. I guess if LSN was my mini project that related to the last 20 years of my life, I wouldn't sell it (well not anything under a milion). Just to clarify HB's statement about Fuzzywinker and multi-player LSN, we are currently playing the second 3on3 LSN game. It's a 30fp on Bad Neighborhood, 3 players to a team, each player controls 10fp. Open deployment - it's Marines vs Greys and the Marines are leading 2-0 after a Warper clipped a corner and blew up one of his own Psykers. Teams are TheGoblin, vom & I vs Oddball, Jaquec Cartier & Valkea. Fuzzy made a slight change to the client (named LSNClient-mphack.exe) which sits right next to the regular client. The file extension is '.lsm'. It emails the turns to Fuzzy's email server and gloms the orders together into a single order file that gets sent to the Codo server. Teams are linked in the sense that you see everything any unit on your side sees. You can give orders to your teamies units but they won't take effect in the actual turn, even if they forget to send orders in. I'm not sure exactly how automated the whole process is yet, I'm fairly certain that Fuzzy has to at least set the game up by hand, so we can't as yet just go crazy with it but I think it would be awesome to see some sort of one time tourney or comp evolve from it at the very least. Posts: 1739 18-Mar-08 16:50	I don't agree with the level of doom in HB's post. The game is still going and new players do seem to be signing up. The league has gone downhill very badly, as have the belts, but mainly I think because there are less players with the time to invest to make them worthwhile. Many are only playing at a slow pace and therefore only participating in alliance and specialist leagues - both of which are holding up fairly well. GS: I don't think you have anything to fear from tFC returning. Half of them are hooked on the destroyer of lives (otherwise known as WoW) would you believe. I am still playing the odd game of LSN , but it is the odd game TBH. Funny I have been having a similar conversation via email with Nimzy who is currently unsubbed. My view is pretty much on a line with Hero Boys TBH, I am still playing but only just. The two things that keep me interested are some of the unique Belt tourneys and Alliance, otherwise my interest level has waned dramatically. Although TBH I am now back tabletop RPing big time, with the old group that used to play 25+ years ago having reunited. Anyways, good to hear from you, take care fella. LSN : Disaster Area
