Thanks. That red glowing moat kinda happened accidently, as I built the foundations of the fort before I located the vent. Currently it has claimed three of my dwarfs so far, one due mining accident while building it, one slipped in while fighting against stealing dark gnome tribe and one after the poor fella lost his mind.

Its very noticaeble in the LOTR films that there is a serious flaw in dwarf architecture. They haven't invented "the handrail" yet!

Give it a go and don't be afraid of getting slaughtered. Best way to learn is get defeated.

I just saw a full grown bull to go and pull a lever to lower/un retract a bridge in my swimming hall!
![]() It's that bull just north of the hall. And yes, those are elephants guarding my south gate. I have 'em on every gate, exept for east, that I haven't opened at all yet. |

You should do.
The new gods and inter-dwarf relationships are interesting! ![]() The current version is a little buggy... waiting for next patch before putting any time in on anything serious. I've got a short story to write some time relating to my last adventurer character. A story of inter-species love, giant cave spiders, and dismemberment. It's going to be good! |

Wow, it's SO detailed. I'd give it a try if I wasn't already addicted to LSN and LOTRO.

Gah! Downloading new install now, curse you!
(butI will take it easy, as I don't want to sail the Bug Sea, I need relatively bug-free entertainment ATM) (playing a bunch of the Spectromancer Beta and Armageddon Empires demo ATM, when trapped with baby in arm and laptop on side table, I might spring for Armageddon Empires...) |

Be noted that:
1. You need to have Towercaps growing in underground cave naturally if you wish to create an underground forest. Atm one cannot make a tower cap farm by digging and moistening(mudding) a cave - Some seeds / saplings / whatsit would be needed to finish the proces, and they'll be adding them later on. 2. Be sure to have some sandy patch where you start, or you cannot initiate glass making and thus cannot build couple of workshops 3. Obsidian foundry thingy creates so little steam that the room you're doing it doesn't need any ventilating. On the downside, it doesn't create enough pressure and steam to use it as an effective weapon either. Had I known these when I was the fortress, I would have picked a very different place from where I'm living in now (and I'm very much too fond of my castle!). Ralser - Silverhead will live on! I post a new pic(s) someday again - the castle's finished now! |

No picture yet (as several different pages seeem to have seized working on me - sorting this out first)
But a report yes. Last night just before I was closing my PC I had a nasty announcment. The vile force of darkness have arrived Nuts Well, I'm more than well prepared on this. There was around 30 gobbo soldiers, two weapon masters, and 8 trolls! I hurriedly closed all but my main defence gate (west), and everyone exept my main siege operator managed to get in. He got cornered in the nearby caldera my moat is connected to, and got crushed by a troll. Ah well, can't expect everyone to make it in time. Rest I hurriedly called to arms (exept my cat operators) and rushed to west wall It was a nice looking reception to see ~60 dwarves with crossbows on the wall, and 10 soldiers at the gate preparing for combat, behind my beast (read elephant and wardog) guard. I also ordered one professional hunter, now marksdwarf, to southern wall to pepper those trolls a bit. Soon the first catapult shots flew, but they went all wide (due the inexperience), and soon the catapult operators started to get scared of the enemies and didn't want to stay on their posts. I didn't report any hits from cats. The goblins slaughtered some pets that was roaming outside. After there was no stray pets to kill, they directed their attention to my keep. I have never seen such a beautiful rain of bolts. The soldiers started taking casualties pretty soon, altough the lighter bolts didn't do much damage due they were all armoured in steel. Other weapon master was at the spearhead (quite literally, he was armed with spear), and he only barely got scratched at all when he finally reached the gate, and got locked into combat with my beasts. It managed to severely wound an elephant calf while dodging bolts. Two of my dwarves decided to dash to the help of the elephants, and got locked in combat with the master (that was being terribly outnumbered). I saw that he was getting reinforcements pretty soon and the odds might turn way too quickly to my taste if I didn't do something. "Raise the bridge!" Echoed the command. Enemy soldiers was closing in fast, and my handydwarf inside the keep was running for the lives of his kins. Lever was pulled, and soon two of the reinforcing goblins that were so close of helping their master fell into their demise and into my moat, while one being crushed under the bridge. The master had only one helper. With the aid of it's kin, he managed to take down other of the helpers I had there, but while evading the blow of the other dwarf, he made a crucial mistake: He sidestepped into my weapon trap line (wich I believe some of the traps has been discovered, and all of them has 10 weapons). He was ripped into pieces instantly taking my critically wounded elephant calf with him. His helper died quickly against overnumber. With over half of the invaders and one weaponmaster dead, and under my bolt rain sealed off from the fort, they didn't seem to want taking their chanses, and rest of them fled. Followed by hail of bolts for as far as they reached. Soon the siege was over. Examining the losses, I had lost the best operator I had due the cut off by that troll. One slightly experienced soldier to weaponmaster and some animals. The other gate combatant also had been wounded, but was alive for now. While doing the count, I noticed something pretty nice. The hunter I sent to harass the trolls, yeah, it had killed about 5 of them. Whoa. So all in all, my fort kicked ass. HARD! In conclusion - Don't mess with Ralser - But it's still not quite finished. While doing the cleaning up, I noticed something nasty. Remember that lava vent I was talking about, yeah that one with the trapped siege operator. Well it turned out to be an erupting Volcano. Nuts. Doing a big counter measure to prevent the fort from beign flooded with lava atm. E: Okay story's not over yet Just as I managed to deal with the volcano, another army has arrived. This time it's 46 foot soldiers, 26 bowmen, 2closecombat weapons master (wich of 1 is human mace lord! GRRR traitors!) and 1 elite crossbow gobbo. Those are accompanied by whoopin 23 Trolls! That's 95 regulars and 3 weapon masters. (*gulp*) I'll report back later. EE: Just noticed what my cage traps (for elephants) contain right now: Troll Troll . . . And a goblin axe lord!
EEE: And the siege is over. From 82 before the sieges my population has now dropped to 57. Don't know how many wounded is there yet. The human traitor has been killed, goblin ringleader captured (and will be executed) and of the bow master I have no clue of yet. This time I didn't even close the western gate, as there was too many valuables there! Yet again Ralser prevails.

There's just so many things that's wrong with that! (starting with that my dwarf assassin actually managed to capture some)
...And another one bites the dust... The saddest thing is that the flies survive the impact themselves!
