Height/elevation.

I did a search with various keywords and didn't find anything relevant, so I was wondering if anyone has ever talked about different elevation levels in the game.
The maps' playing surfaces are entirely level, leaving out the tactical fun of going for/taking/holding high ground for sight and lobbing range advantages. I can't help but think that levels of elevation and maybe even the odd thing like raised platforms or small towers would add extra combat realism (maybe longevity and more telling map variations) without changing the core flow of the game. I thought maybe even make climbing inclines slow units' moving speed by a tiny amount, and vice versa.
If there were things like platforms there would need to be extra sight/display options so units don't get lost... would that alone make it too much work for anyone (assuming LSN ever gets major new features?) Multilevel buildings and more dramatic indoor firefights , ambushes in streets from high windows on either side etc.
Ever been discussed?

It has, but probably before the great ezboard crash of....yesteryear...
Just trying to go from memory, but I think the main arguments against Multi-level buildings was that they would over complicate things and just slow the game down too much.
Personally I don't see an issue with raised terrain, in fact if memory serves, some screenshots (or mock ups?) of LSN Earth showed battles occurring on undulating terrain (LSN Earth being the intended successor to LSN) but as that appears not to be likely to happen and I doubt we will see it implemented into the current LSN, but it is not impossible.LSN: Brootal

Terrain destruction, grenades/gooballs physics and shooting flying units will result in quite a few issues, which will really complicate things.
So I think it will add realism, but the gameplay may suffer.------------------------------

It was talked about back in the day. It'd make for a nice addition. Grenades and gooballs wouldn't require too much alteration. You would just have to be able to target one level higher than the highest standable level.
1 -*
2 - E
3 - | |
4 - | |
5G- | |
Basically, the grenadier (G) would fire at the asterisk (*) to try to land a grenade on the enemy (E).
Oops, submitted this a bit early. As far as flying units, I think the added tactical options multiple levels of elevation would provide would finally make them different. Currently they're ground units with the ability to move through windows.

...and the ability to fly over sandbags and low walls (as well as some destroyed machinery I think) which can be really handy vs Spawn.

I forgot they could fly over the sandbags and low walls too. Still, it'd be nice to open up some new tactical opportunities by having elevation added.

They could then fly over the mid-high walls too what they can't go over now, not to mention trees and such...LSN: Mr Cartier League:High Elite GMT:+2 - A knight is sworn to valor. there's only 3 of them... in every particular case it can be explained why they cannot "fly too high".
btw, only 1 of the 3 can fit through window

Actually as I read trough them, there was no mention of the reason why they can't fly high, exept perhaps for saucer, and maybe to even that. The page just said that they can fly over low obstacles, and that's all.LSN: Mr Cartier League:High Elite GMT:+2 - A knight is sworn to valor. His heart knows only virtue.
