Not another competition you cry, but yes here's my suggestion for something quick, easy and different.
The Rules of Engagement
The idea is to play each map in turn until the list has been finished. The Ultimate Map Maestro will then be declared based on whoever has held the position for the longest run.
Edit:
Extra Award: While the Ultimate Map Tart will be decared for the player who has held the Champion position for the greatest numner of times.
There will be no list of waiting challengers (called Under Dogs). It will be upto the Champion to offer himself open to challenges from Under Dogs via the forum. The champion must acknowledge the first challenge post and then it is up to the Under Dog to send in the game request. A defeated Champion or Under Dog cannot re-challenge straight away. They must wait for at least one map to pass before challenging again.
Each challenge has to be on the next map in the sequence, be set to the FP's stated for each map and for a length of 30 turns. It is upto each party to decide the time limit (shorter the better I think) and whether it is friendly or league.
Faction (race) use will be restricted. Upon a successful defence or challenge a player must use a different faction for the next map only. This should lead to players looking at the next map in tunr and deciding what their best options are. ie Spawn would be good on this map, but great on the next map, so I'll have to play Marines here first.
The result of the match must be sent to Luiglin either by email, forum or by using a form on a webpage I'm setting up. All that's needed is the Map, Champion, Under Dog and result score. Battle comments are welcome but not required.
I'll keep the web page amended with results and a table showing current leaders in defences.
What do people think? Is there any willing volunteers wanting to start it all off?
I'll check back later when I'm at home.
