Posts: 18 2-Jan-08 16:34	Tags : None Hi, I'm a free trial player, and I've been challenged to a couple of league games. One of them I accepted (and I'm getting slaughtered), but I wonder what this means to me. If I decide to upgrade, does that automatically put me into a league? Or am I in one already? If so, how do I find out what that's all about, the standings, rankings, etc. I'm not sure I want to play league games now if, when I end up joining a league, I'll come in at a deficit, if that makes sense. As always, any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris

Posts: 360 2-Jan-08 17:16	THe league point system is similar to the one used in Chess, in csa you are familiar with that. Everyone starts with 1000 points. If you play a match against a player that has the same number of points, then both of you will bet 10 points, and lose or win that amount depending on outcome. If you play a player that is much higher or lower, the total number of points in the bet will always be 20, but the highest player will risk more than the lowest: for example, if you play against a player that has 1030 points, you will get 13 points in case you win but only lose 7 in the other case. The situation will be reversed if you play against someone that has 970 points. You can start league games right away ... you may loose points early on, but you will easily get them back when you improve. Or you can wait till you get a better feeling of the game and play friendly games for now. To check league rankings, hit the corresponding menu on the web interface, then pick one of the 3 leagues (Elite, Veteran, Rookie). THere must be some explanations there about how you get promoted/demoted from one league to the next. You will need to finish at least one game to appear in the list ... I think that covers most of it

Posts: 2520 2-Jan-08 18:42	Another thing you could do is play league games with your free trial account...If you improve and decide to keep that username, go ahead and upgrade your account as is. If you do really bad and go down a lot of points, you could always just sign up for the full version with a new username and start fresh if you like. DA's left nut
