would you have to keep named units the same type? or you just get like, 20 names and you can just give them to whatever unit you want depending on the race you want and the map

seems like the second thing would be easier, but the first would fit the RP element better

there's some incentive as it is, if you only have a couple named units left, but one is say, a commander, playing at a three+ point handicap would be difficult. in risking you named units, you allow yourself to fight on a level playing field. i do agree though, some sort of incentive to use your named units is important, if you think of it in RP terms, no hardened veteran is gonna stay out of the action in an important battle, and even when the battle is mostly won, they would still want to be part of mopping up the remaining elements of the opposing force
