Posts: 595 30-Jan-08 20:04	Tags : None I heard you guys moaning about lack of Subscribers and lack of new conversations on this section, so I have resubscribed and need to know a bit more information Is the Saucer still overpriced as a unit in the 3.10 patch, or is it a viable option. I am toying with deploying Spawn or Greys on a particular game I have, as I think my deployment zone could get mauled very early on. Is a Saucer going to be useful as a mobile regen, or is it still underpowered etc? Let's hope my interest lasts a little longer this time round, although I do feel the LSN urge again after nearly 2 years away

Posts: 3407 31-Jan-08 02:23 BeltBoy	Saucers are useful units but you have to know what they are. They are NOT moving regenerators or tanks. They ARE useful for soaking up a bit of damage and knocking out the odd unit before retreating to recharge.

Posts: 595 31-Jan-08 10:54	So its a more hit and run approach with the Saucer is it? Does it have the firepower to hit a Machina tank for example? Anyway I think as it's not a mobile regen, I'll have to re-evaluate my strategy, and play a couple of friendlies....

Posts: 3442 31-Jan-08 13:13 Kick me officially if I smoke	the advantage you have against a mech tank is that they are so slow. You can hit them a few times then regen then come back and hot them some more and you can usually do this much quicker than they can heal - so yes given the right circumstances they can be very effective against mech tanks. That is assuming they don't cut you off from your regen with the superior number they probably have :-o worto.

Posts: 635 31-Jan-08 13:58 Registered User	This game is an interesting one from the perspective of Saucers vs MTs: lsn.kicks-ass.org/lga/details/7785 I think it illustrates fairly well how crucial it is to run away with your Saucer at JUST the right time, not a moment too late! I was pushing it several times in that game, and one time I pushed it too far... but my two Saucers did a staggering amount of damage, that game, and drew a staggering amount of fire, too. They also did some great scouting. So I felt it was 10 points well spent.

Yeah they really were a pain in the arse Probably the crucial nail in the coffin for me was that when I expected your saucer at the door in the end and sent two missiles to greet him, both of them missed. If they would have hitted, you wouldn't have had other choise than flee with it, and it would have given me the time I needed to remodel the building we fought at (It concealed my other HQ), and spam your sentries down as they were quite unprotected. Posts: 5827 1-Feb-08 14:14 Budda on an anthill	IIRC, I have used the Saucer as a mobile regen exactly twice in all the times I've deployed Greys and it was critical to my success both times. That being said, the right circumstances very rarely happen and I'd never deploy 1 (or more) planning on using a Saucer that way because it just wouldn't be cost effective (IMO). I do like Saucers on the right map though, give them room and a bit of cover and they can be quite deadly. LSN:Indricotherium, GMT-5, League:Elite, Alliance:Doomed, Specialist:L.O.G.

Posts: 142 7-Feb-08 18:44	Iv'e just really got into using Saucers. Make very good Splatters. Especially when attacking enemy tanks around a base. I find Saucers to be fantastic close up combat machines. Great for taking out hunters too.

Posts: 142 8-Feb-08 06:00	Been doing quite well on a 20 point deployment of 2 Saucers, 1 Phyker 1 guardian and 4 Sentrys. Seems to work very well against Mechs. Using Saucers upfront backed up by the rest of the force. I'd only recomend it on maps with plenty of cover though. With enough space for saucers to move about.

Posts: 3407 8-Feb-08 09:20 BeltBoy	If you deploy a Saucer you have to deploy at least 1 Regenerator. The Saucer's biggest asset is the ability to hold a whole load of energy so by not deploying a Regenerator you are not taking advantage of that....
