For those who don't know, he was the co-creator of D&D, he died a few days ago.

I liked the tribute by XKCD too...
Apparently Gary was still hosting games at his house as recently as a few months ago. I wonder which set of rules he used... :) - FW

Good tributes guys
As for what rules he was using, probably not the current ones, which are about to be out-dated by the classic 'let's revamp it again to sell more stuff' I still have all my characters, but have been gradually converting them over to ICE's Rolemaster v2, another system that died out over ten years ago, or rather was dumbed down and repackaged. Anyway, back to the main topic, in a funny way Gary Gygax's creation made a HUGE impact on me some 30 years ago when at the weekend wargames club some roleplayers turned up, and everyone thought 'WTF !!!!?' My parents were always convinced I would 'grow out of it' - how wrong they were as I am still writing scenarios, rolling up characters and painting figs to this very day. yeah, big loss to the community. DnD was what got me into the hobby, from there wargames, card games, all sorts of stuff. he will be missed.
