Posts: 18 26-Dec-07 21:08	Tags : None Hi, This is a question from another thread, but I thought a different title might help me get an answer more quickly. I bought a copy of the game on CD, and when I try to log in to the web site and download the most recent .exe file, I'm told I am in the free trial and need to upgrade my account. Does buying the game not grant me access to the web site? When I installed the game, it allowed me to access all the campaigns and races, etc. But now in an online game, I need the new version of the executable file and can't get it. Thanks for any help, Chris

Posts: 1358 27-Dec-07 06:33 Goo-blin	the boxed game comes with a three month (i'm pretty sure it's 3 month, but i might be wrong) subscription to the online game. there should be some way to activate your account using some registration code in the box, or something like that. i'm sure there's someone around that knows more about how to do that exactly, just figured i'd let you know that you should have a subscription that comes with the box. Posts: 3879 27-Dec-07 12:50 One by one, the penguins take my sanity	Hmm, I think there have been a few problems with this, in that you can't upgrade a trial account to a proper subscribed account with a box code..... I believe you would have to buy a sub (eg 1 month's worth) online to set up the account, and then you can use the code in the box to get a further 3 month's free. I'm not totally sure on this, but I know there is a page to enter the code to extend your current sub, (that would be here) but not one to start your sub. I think it's probably lost a few players as understandably people were angry to have to pay again in order to get their 3 months I think it all got messed up when the nature of the trial account was changed to allow far more access to the game (all the maps, able to play in league games, all races etc).

Posts: 11 6-Feb-08 21:24	The retail boxed version gives you nothing but a worthless CD and a code for 3 months of online play, with no possible way of setting up an account to use it. I have been at this all morning, the answer seems to be that you MUST buy the game at full price from their website before you will be granted an account. In short, just buy the game and download it from the website, any money you spent on the boxed retail version is just wasted money. I am not thrilled with this experience, never before have I purchased a game and not been able to play it...

Posts: 360 6-Feb-08 22:21	Hello Maluzu, I bought the boxed game (in the USA), finally decided to use that code I found in there after a couple months of solo play ... I WAS able to play the full game for free for 3 months, then WAS able to extend that same account for yealy subscriptions at the usual rate. Your code should be a new (never used) one though, which shouldn't be a problem if you bought the box new ...

Posts: 11 6-Feb-08 22:46	I install the game, it does not run because the .exe file is out of date. To get the new .exe version I need to access the Web interface and click "DOWNLOAD". I can not access the web interface unless I already have an account. having a free trial account will not give me access to download the 3.10 version, it forces me to upgrade to a full account which requires me to pay 17$. Pray tell, how am I supposed to play this game? And yes, I bought two copies from the store. One for my wife and one for me, new, unopened... Thanks in advance for any gems of wisdom you can share to get this working.

Posts: 360 6-Feb-08 23:18	I just spent some time on the so-called news page trying to figure out how I did it (it's been over a year, maybe a year and a half now) ... I am pretty sure I wasn't able to upgrade the free trial account i had first set, and ended up having to choose another name for a new account when i used the code. So that's not what you should do ... I remember that I followed instructions in that booklet that came with the game (which I don't have anymore unfortunately) ... if my memory is right, there was an option somewhere on the main website to enter promotional codes ... I certainly didn't struggle half the time I just spent trying to locate it again just now, without success ... Could it be that whoever redesigned the looks of the website forgot to keep that option? It seems weird to me, as the version 3-10 came not that long after I joined, and the shelves of my local Fry's store had a lot of shiny new LSN boxes in the section with the recent stuff ... Sorry I couldn't figure it out, I'll try to remember if there was any trick (doubtful, I am the computer-dumb type, it had to be straighforward), and post if something comes back ...

My issue was that I had the DEMO installed, just simply going to Start > All Programs > the running the UNINSTALL tool will NOT remove game to the point that the CD will work for you. Follow the steps below... Step 1) Open "My Computer", then open your C: drive, then open your "Program Files" folder and delete the folder called "Laser Squad Nemesis". (if you do not have this folder, proceed to Step 2) Step 2) Install the game, run it, click on Non-Subscriber, that is where you set your user/pass and enter the code. Step 3) Log in to codo-linux1.bytemark.co.uk/LSN/login and click "DOWNLOAD" to get the newest version of the exe This may be common knowledge to the experience folks, but for novice users this was an extremelly annoying situation and caused me to waste several hours today. I hope this will help others in the future.
