Posts: 3880 30-Apr-06 10:00 One by one, the penguins take my sanity	Tags : None I was enjoying playing in the cyborg league when Archer unfortunately disappeared. For those who don't know about it, it's a compo where you play 2 games a month, one as mech vs marine, the other as marines vs mech. I was thinking of starting it up again. I don't know the first thing about websites, so it wouldn't be nearly as swish as Archer's set-up, although I might try to find out more about doing a website if there was enough interest. Here is a link to the original cyborg league forum for anyone who wants to know more about the rules etc. clicky So, any thoughts? Would anyone be interested in playing if I did get it going again? Posts: 695 30-Apr-06 12:02	I'd be up for it, the Cyborg league was always a lot of fun, mech v marine matches always seem to produce exciting games, especially for us old-timers who could sit around reminiscing about the Good Old Days when there were only these 2 races and we only had 1 map and lasers moved a lot more slowly and we had to walk 5 miles in wooden clogs to get each turn etc. It's been a while, but I remember the website being not much more than the forum with an additional fixture list page, pretty much what the Specialist League is like. It would be great if we could have something more like the King of the Castle setup that used the TAS and it's own database of matches and results, but it wouldn't be essential.

I was more than happy to put the work in to set up a proper tourny like Archer's, but if people aren't even going to post that they might be interested, it doesn't seem worth the aggro. I guess I'll just have to come up with a completely new idea....... I'm not very good at them! I was thinking that with Alliance and Specialist wrapping up soon people would fancy something else, but I guess summer is coming soon as well. "Build it and they will come" is about right, you will get people like me saying it's great, but lacking time responding to hypotheitcals, but the people who will join tend not to respond to this type of post. If you want a phpbb forum I've got some space on my site, I can set you one up, or even just give you a few areas on the one I already have. as for work, just say you're doing it. there's no work required until you've got people signed up. then you need to work out fixtures and post them. Snazy web sites can come later. A completely new idea isn't going to solve the "I've already got too many games" syndrome. Personally I'd like to see Cyborg, ET & Gurilla Leagues back, they were the most fun. I'd try & set them up on TAS myself if I had the time LSN: Brootal Alliance wants you! That's really generous of you Broot, I don't even know what 'setting up' entails I noticed LastBullet used forumsplace which is a free phpbb one or something, and obviously with Alliance and Spec leagues being phpbb I figured something in that direction would be a safe bet. I know you're really busy at the moment, so I don't want to cause work for you, but if it's simple then that would be great - if it's going to cause you hassle then a few pointers in the right direction would be cool! Posts: 2809 8-May-06 22:13 Blutkind	if it would be on TAS => it would be linked in tournaments on WI => there will be people who don't chat on forums, many players. p.s. the only idea of cyborg league is playing only Marines and Mech? if i remember correctly, HB was going implement something like this, when he'll be ok working with TAS... i may be wrong.
