Richard J Edwards, someone I beleives is a very good story writer, is currently writting the first ever story. I called it "The Laser Squads" (he might change the name if he wish to), and talk about the very first Laser Squad(s) sent to defend the humanity against the oncoming Spawn attacks...
Archer is writting the second Themed Games story, which concentrate on an elite Laser Squad sent on a rescue mission.
The Themed Games shall go on like this: An introduction to the story will be posted when a story begin. Along with the story chapters shall be mentionned objectives to be completed by both side, objectives which are extremely important to achieve for the benefit of the player team (or race). Two players shall then be recruited here on this very thread (reserve poolers have priority), and everyone willing to play on either side of the current mission will be accepted in a first arrived, first served basis. A friendly shall then be played, and it is very important that both players play the game until it run out of turns. When the game is finished, both players are to send a copy of their wholegame to me (Eagle_of_Fire@hotmail.com) so I can compile the completed and failed mission objectives for both players. I will then forward the wholegame file to the writter so he/she can view it too and perhaps use worthwhile parts of the battle for either an inspiration process or to be included altogether in the next chapter. Based on all this, the writter will then write the next chapter of the story and a new mission will be issued. Start back at step one.
I wish to make something crystal clear from the start: the goal of this game is not necessaraly to win in the strict LSN format. Each missions will bear several objectives for both players, objectives which are way more important to complete than to actually win the game. Having two players who fits to the mission objectives, have fun trying to complete them and are willing to do whatever possible to complete them are way more important here than having two players only playing for the heck of it. The more intensity, the better.
Secondly, it will be possible for a side to manage to overplay a failed objective by showing outstanding play. A pair of outgunned grunts managing to bring down a sizable force of ennemies in an incredible laser fight before dying (or before barely escaping with their lives) would be a good example. The more important the failed objective, the harder it would be to achieve tough.
Finnaly, it would be usefull (if not interesting) for all the players concerned to know the official storyline behind Laser Squad: Nemesis. That small story can be found here, in the "Basic LSN 101" folder -> "Lsn Story Background". For the record, the first story ("The Laser Squads", written by Richard) would begin in chapter five of the official story, since we are talking about the very first laser squads ever deployed.
Have fun playing, but even better, have fun reading!

(This post will constantly be updated to stop me from flooding the thread with constant posts. Keep coming here to see the updated reserve pool.)
Explanation on the reserve pool: Ranks are not linear, and works like in UFO: Ennemy Unknown from Rookie to General. Everytime a Rookie play a game, he get automatically promoted to 2nd Class. Everytime a player win a game (or complete some nice RP) he will also be promoted by one rank.
Races icons: the (0/0/0) part is for archiving purpose, and shows all the games the player battled out. The first number is a win, the second number is a draw and the last number is a defeat. When a player end a game, the 0 will be removed and I will add a race icon to show the result. There will be an icon for each completed game, so a player can end up with more than one icon of the same race at the same place.
Current draft policy: whenever a game is being issued, I will post the objectives like normal and then send an FAO on the main board. From that point, I will count 24 hours for recruitment. Anybody will be allowed to play, but the reserve poolers will have priority. In practice, this mean that if only 2 players step in to play, be in the pool or not, they will be choosen for the game. If you are at the top of the list and that 6 other players steped in, you will be choosen first and the others will wait. Of course, when you play a game you are placed back to the bottom of the list and each player can play only one Themed Game at at time.
When you will "step in", you will need to tell me which side of the match you wish to play and, if you can't be playing that side because someone else stole you the spot but you are still next in line, if you wish to play the other side too.
Players who are not in the reserve pool will be entered in the pool automatically so they are not always turned down.
Reminder: Themed Games Players need to send their wholegame.lsn file (and result.lsn too for last turn, if possible) to EAGLE_OF_FIRE@HOTMAIL.COM so I can review the successfull and missed objectives.
Stories writen by different writers are in no way related to each other unless stated otherwise. Crossover stories can be possible if both writers agrees to, guest appearance could be possible too, well about anything as long as both writers agree to it. However, it will be clearly stated at that time, and must be considered as rare thus not the norm.
