Return with us to the days of the western frontier, when men were men and sheep were scared. Saloons were filled with fast women and faster guns. Where six-shooters roared and a tin star was the only law west of the Pecos.
All battles (gunfights) are fought with Marines on the Wild West map; 15 FP, "friendly", wipeout setting, 15 days, and 20 turns.
Units:
Medic = town doctor.
Sniper = buffalo hunter with long range, Henry rifle.
Commander = sheriff or outlaw gang leader with shotgun.
Grenadier = guy with bag of dynamite.
Grunt = guy with Winchester rifle.
HQ = the town's weapons cache.
The defending belt champ will always deploy the town sheriff (Commander). Since the sheriff normally will have access to bullets and reloads, he may also deploy an HQ (the town's weapons cache). The sheriff always seems to be able to deputize as many townsfolk as he needs (and issue them Winchester rifles from his stock). And the loyal town doctor is always standing by the sheriff in his time of need. Of course, sheriffs can't take dynamite (Grenadiers) as the town's elders don't hanker to the good guys blowing up the general store.
Legal Sheriff (belt holder) deployments:
Commander, Medic, HQ, and ten Grunts.
Commander, Medic, and eleven Grunts.
Commander, HQ, and eleven Grunts.
Commander and twelve Grunts.
The outlaw gang leader (Commander) can always round up lawless men who are looking to rob a bank or just shoot up Tombstone on a Saturday night. Most are just gunmen (Grunts). Sometimes there's a retired buffalo hunter considering a new line of work. And someone always seems to show up with a bag of dynamite or box of nitro, since the bank manager never seems to remember the combination to the safe. But the bad guys have to get in and get out quickly, so they don't have more than what they can carry with them (no HQs).
Legal Outlaw Gang (challenger) deployments:
Commander and twelve Grunts.
Commander, ten Grunts, and one Sniper.
Commander, ten Grunts, and one Grenadier.
Commander, eight Grunts, one Sniper, and one Grenadier.
The belt champ is elected (or reelected; no term limits) sheriff by the fine people of Tombstone. The sheriff must preserve the peace and protect the citizens and their property (aka accept challenges from other gangs - one at a time - please queue up).
Rules:
Belt holder to issue challenge.
Friendly.
Wild West map only.
Wipeout.
Marines only.
15 FPs (legal deployments are listed above).
20 Turns.
15 Days.
a) If the challenged player does not respond within 10 days, go to next outlaw gang in the queue.
b) If the Outlaw Gang Leader does not deploy within 5 days of accepting the challenge, go to the next outlaw gang in the queue.
c) If the Sheriff does not deploy within 5 days, the top two outlaws in the queue will have a showdown (top in the queue challenging the next in line with each deploying outlaw gangs) to see who becomes the new Sheriff.
d) Sheriff retains belt in a draw; if two gangs fight to a draw they have another showdown, switching sides of town.
e) You will not be added to the bottom of the queue after a loss. Please post here to return to the queue.
f) If the sitting Sheriff retires, the next two outlaw gang leaders will have a showdown (top in the queue challenging the next in line with each deploying outlaw gangs) for control of Tombstone.
g) The traveling circuit court judge (aka Tombstone Admin, Philberticus) may prod players when necessary to keep the game moving. All players not keeping to the letter of the law and the spirit of this competition will be the guest of honor at a necktie party.
This is a "just for fun", tongue-in-cheek, belt. All taunting should be done in true period style. "This town ain't big enough for the both of us. You best be on the noon stage out of Tombstone."
Each player is encouraged to take on the persona of a "gang" from America's Wild West during the late 1800's. (ie "Dalton Gang", "Erp Brothers", "Hole in the Wall Gang", "The Posse", "The Bar M Boys", etc. --- or any other fictional or non-fictional outlaws, group of ranch hands, or collection of lawmen).
Note: The comp may be modified slightly in the future for play balance issues. You have been warned.
