4th Machina mission - Stuck ( spoiler warning) |

I just don't know how to get through this one. We have little force points, we have to defend our only HQ and they come in firing from 5 different doors. I can't defend my HQ, so I can't even think on attacking theirs... Any ideas please?

It seems like this is a mission where you have to use the info you've gained from the previous attempts to beat it to have a prayer of winning.
I'm not looking for spoilers, I'd be thrilled with suggestions and hints though. |

I have the same problem... I cant go past this one. Tried a lot though.
The I could do was to get rid of two HQ... And died in the prosses. Any suggestions? |

What if I use the switch in the control room south east of my hq to lock their doors And let them througt some units at the time?
Worth a try? But in witch order? Arrrrg.. |

I can't see most of the posts here so...
Currently I am attempting to be agressive - I take 5 Exterminators and move them against the SE base - my Missile Tank takes it out while one Exterminator holds the door open. The other Ex's shoot the enemy missile tank to the SW. This works fine. I am trying to build on this - if anyone has any success let me know :) I should point out that I *did* manage to kill what I thought was everything but ran out of time :( Jim |

OK guys,
I finally finished this - my advice? Once you have killed about 30-40 points of enemies (one easy) start to explore the map. Spoiler: There are 4 enemy HQs. Jim |

I'm playing on Rookie, so if you're playing on hard and it's not fun switch down.
1) Only buy 'terms. You get 2 AI, a Tank, a Scanner and a Hunter given to you, and Hunters suck at defense. 2) Set the 'terms up so they can watch as many open doors as possible. It's possible to set them up inside the HQ bunker in such a way that each 'term can watch 2 doors. 3) Use the scanner to watch for moving enemies, and make sure to use Opportunity fire to keep your reaction times down. It allows almost every mach unit one extra shot. (eg Terms take 2 secs to shoot, 1.1 secs to react. Therefore in a 10 sec turn, they get 5 shots instead of 4. This doesn't sound like much, but over the course of 20 turns, that's a potential 20 extra shots, enough to take out at least 3 regular opponents) 4) When the 6 man squad turns up (Use the scanner), they should walk straight into a rocket. 5) Use the hunter to hold doors open, then back off before the end of turn so that the enemy can't aim at you. Make sure to use opportunity fire. 6) If it looks like a Tank or AI is doomed, have it drive right in. DO NOT BRING IT BACK TO BASE, IF IT GOES UP IT WILL DO MORE HARM THAN A ROCKET. If possible, get the Tank to fire a rocket at a nearby wall when it's surrounded. I did this on mission 2 and wiped out an entire squad of Drones with the double explosion. 7) I'm not sure, but I think when you're exploring the priority should be to shut down the Forcefield generator to the North-East. If my geometry's right, the opponent could activate the one to the SW and rip a hole through the middle of your HQ. |
